Steve Briggs

Welcome to Drivers for the Cure, a dedicated initiative born from the heart of the Late Model Racing Series community. We are coming together to support our dear friend, Steve Briggs, a true champion both on and off the track, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Steve is a pillar in our racing family, always lending a hand and cheering for others. Now, it's our turn to support him and his family during this challenging time.

Lucas

We truly do appreciate all the support the community has shown for our cause. Today we wanted to share a story of a brave young man and because of all of YOU we were able to assist him and his mom in the cost of an implant for him. In May of 2013, at just 3 years old, Lucas was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer. He bravely underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and, in January 2014, had his right eye removed. A few months later, in April 2014, Lucas received his first prosthetic eye. Then in July 2014, something incredibly rare happened — Lucas relapsed with Retinoblastoma in his eye socket, a 0.01% chance of recurrence. Once again, he faced the fight head-on, going through four more rounds of extensive chemotherapy and radiation. By December 2014, Lucas had completed all of his treatments. Through it all, Lucas never let anything hold him back. Today, he is 16 years old, has his driver's permit, is an honor-roll student at Sherman Central School, and works on a farm — his dream is to one day become a farmer and own a farm of his own. He loves driving his tractor and has the heart and wisdom of an "old soul." Lucas still goes for yearly checkups and requires new prosthetic eyes as he grows. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the cost of new prosthetics or any related appointments. Despite everything he's faced, Lucas continues to shine with strength, determination, and a big heart.

Dave Beckstrom & Family

Cancer has once again struck close to home. This time, it's one of our board member's brother-in-law, Dave, and we want to rally together as a community to support him and his family during this difficult journey. Here is his story: "Cancer sucks. Dave Beckstrom is battling a recurrence of testicular cancer. About a year and a half ago, Dave found a lump that we soon learned was testicular cancer. Surgery followed, and the doctors successfully removed it. Fast forward to recent weeks—Dave began noticing some pain, and more scans revealed several new spots. The cancer is back. As he begins chemotherapy and the long stretch of appointments ahead, we are praying this platform will help ease the financial strain this will bring. Even if you cannot give financially, our family firmly believes in the power of prayer. Please join us in lifting Dave up, asking for God's healing hand over his body, guidance for his doctors and nurses, and strength for Lindsey, Zeri, and Zanna. With HIS strength, we can fight this battle together." 🙏 How You Can Help: ✨ Donate if you're able https://gofund.me/0769b1225 ✨ Share this post ✨ Pray for healing, strength, and peace for Dave and his family As part of our commitment to standing with families fighting this horrible disease, Drivers for the Cure will be making a donation to support Dave and his loved ones as they navigate treatment and recovery. We hope it lifts some of the financial burden and reminds them that they are not alone. Your generosity, love, and prayers mean more than words can express. From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for supporting Dave, for believing in hope, and for being part of this incredible community. We love you all. 💜

Dan Armbruster & Family

Dan Armbruster & Family

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dan Armbruster and his family during this very difficult time. This past week we lost Debbie Armbruster, the loving wife of Dan — who many in our racing community know as the driver of the #61. Debbie passed away peacefully on March 8th surrounded by her family. Debbie was a devoted wife of 41 years, a loving mother to Nikki, Jennifer, and Kylee, and a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren. She was the heart of her family and someone who brought laughter, warmth, and love to everyone around her. Many will also remember Debbie from the local dirt tracks where she proudly supported Dan throughout his racing career. In Debbie's honor, Drivers for the Cure will be sending a check to help the family with hospital expenses. Please keep Dan, their daughters, grandchildren, and the entire Armbruster family in your thoughts and prayers. Debbie's love and the memories she created will live on in all who knew her. ❤️

Financial assistance for hospital and funeral expenses for the Armbruster family.

Jennifer and the Clements family

From day one, Drivers for the Cure has always been about one thing: giving back, especially when it hits close to home in the racing community. If you know anything about late model racing, then you've definitely heard the name Clements Racing Engines. Just like last year when we stood with our friend Steve Briggs, once again cancer has touched one of our own – Jennifer Clements Zellner. Jennifer's story is one of strength, faith, and early detection. In December 2024, a routine CT scan for stomach pain unexpectedly revealed a 16mm nodule in her right lung. After countless tests, doctor visits, and surgery that removed part of her lung and multiple lymph nodes, Jennifer was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. She's currently wrapping up 8 rounds of chemotherapy and will have a critical follow-up scan later this month. Her journey is far from over, but her faith in God, strength in adversity, and passion to advocate for others is nothing short of inspiring. At Drivers for the Cure, this is exactly why we do what we do; to lift up families in their toughest battles. We are proud to support Jennifer and the Clements family through this fight. So once again, we will be auctioning off racing memorabilia like door panels, helmets, signed merch, and more—plus our just-announced 2nd Annual Golf Outing—all to raise money to beat this disease and keep paying it forward. 🙏 Please keep Jennifer in your prayers and help us spread her story. Together, we can continue to make a difference – one family at a time.
